About Me Bag

Introduction

Welcome to Kindergarten!

In these first weeks of school, we will spend a lot of time learning about and getting to know each other. In support of this time, I have developed a webquest to help you complete a project with your kindergartener below. Please work with your child to complete their "About Me" bag and return it to school. Your child will then have the opportunity to share what they have created about themselves! Thank you so much for taking the time to support your child and for giving them the opportunity to share about themselves with their classmates!

Task

As stated in the Introduction, you and your child will follow the steps listed under the "Process" tab to create an "About Me" bag. There is no right or wrong way to complete this bag. This project simply provides your student with the opportunity to share about themself and for the class to learn about your child. I have attached some links to songs, videos and books that will support you and your child with thinking about themself and what they might like to share. The only limitation is that all items need to fit inside of the paper bag provided. Get creative!

Process

1. Inlcude a picture of yourself. Some ideas may include:

- a photo from years past

- a photo from this summer

- a photo of you as a baby

- an illustration of yourself

2. Tell me about your family.

Use the story links below to support this conversation about family and who is family.

Evaluation

There is no evaluation with this task, however it is very special to the students. In the past, every student loves having the oppotunity to share about themselves. This activity supports the process of building a community within the classroom. If you have any questions at any time, please feel free to email me. Again remember, be as creative as you want! The only limitation is that all items need to fit inside the bag mailed home!

Conclusion

Thank you so much for your participation in this activity and for supporting your child's education! I cannot wait to learn more about your child! Please return the bag by the end of the second week of school!
