I’m sure at one time or another, we all wished that we could be the teacher!  Well, guess what?  It’s your turn!

It’s time for you to be the teacher! 

Have you ever wondered why we listen to the music that we do today? Why we wear what we do today? Why the world is like it is today?

I’m sure you’ve heard it said that what we do today shapes the future.  Everything is connected and you will see that by delving into our past, we can sometimes understand our present a little better.

You have been assigned to a certain decade in recent history.  Your group will create, organize and present a complete multimedia lesson to your peers. For once, you get to be the teacher!

Your presentation should be divided into the following categories:

1)  Singers, Songs and Style(s)  of music popular during this decade

     a.      Suggestion:

              i. Top 10 performers from this decade (include musical examples)

              ii. What were the styles of music?  Singers and/or songs for each of those styles?

2)  Fashions and Fads from this time period

     a.  Suggestions:          

          i.  What were people wearing?

          ii.  What were the hair styles?

          iii. What kind of toys were children playing with?

          iv. What dances were popular?

          v.  What kind of car did most people drive?

          vi. What did people do for fun?

 

3)  Current events

     a.  Suggestions:

          i. What were the major historic events?

          ii. Were there any wars?

          iii. Who were the Presidents?

          iv. What new things were invented that impacted daily life?

          v. Who were the major sports stars?                                                    

          vi.What were the major sporting events?

          vii.Were there any advancements in science?

 

4)  Entertainment

     a. Suggestions:

         i. Who were the popular TV stars?

         ii.  Who were the popular movie stars?

         iii.  What were the popular TV shows and movies?

 

You will need 10 slides for each section. You should have at least a total of 40 slides at the end of this project. You will need to site your sources for the information that you use in your project. Since this project is new for you and me, your sources will just need to copied and pasted into each slide or have a slide at the end of your project citing all of your sources.
