13 Colonies

Introduction

During the Colonial era, many people were leaving England. They took many risks to come & create a home in America. The 13 colonies were divided up into three sections: New England, Middle and Southern Colonies. People settled in these regions for different reasons, including job opportunities, freedom of religion, climate and geography.

Task

Your Task: 

You  have decided to take on the adventure and explore the New World to tell everyone about your findings and which region they should move to.  You will go to the New England, Middle and Southern Colonies to do thourough research on each area. After you are done exploring each region of the new world you will write a letter or blog stating and explaining your finds for ONE region and why people should move to that region.

 

Objectives:

* I can determine the geography, culture, religion, economy, government and reason for founding for the New England, Middle and Southern Colonies

* I can create a blog or letter to my family, friend or social media followers that explain how the geography of the region effects the economic, political, cultural, and governmental components in the region with many pieces of evidence & identifies and explains reasons why people should move to that region with many pieces of evidence (Pull and push factors).

Process:

1. Research each region: New England, Middle & Southern Colonies by using the websites below

2. Use the 13 Colonies organizer worksheet to record & organize your findings 

3. After your colonial organizer worksheet is FULLY completed, you will write a letter or blog summarizing your findings about the economic, culture (way of life), governmental, geographic and religious factors in ONE of the regions. How the geography affects certain components in the region, and why people would move to that area with  many pieces of evidence.
