Welcome Grade One Students!
Something unique about our school is that it was here over 100 years ago! Do you think it would be fun to go back in time and visit? On this WebQuest you will learn all about what Calgary was like 100 years ago, and what life was like.
Task
Your group will be creating a "Digital Museum" to show what life was like in Calgary 100 years ago.
This museum will have pictures of Calgary 100 years ago, and will compare them to today. You will need to work with your partner to create your own exhibit.
The areas you will be learning about are: Transportation, Clothing, Food, Entertainment, Communication
Process
- Task #1: Think about what life is like today. Look for images of this on the computer. Save these pictures in a word document and show the teacher.
- Task #2: Begin your research by looking at fiction and non-fiction books about what life was like in the past. Make sure use your graphic organizer to keep track of the information that you find. You need to use at least one non-fiction book and one fiction book.
- Task #3: Using the computer, research more about what life was like 100 years ago. You will need to find pictures of each topic and save it in your word document.
- Task #4: Start writing sentences about the pictures you have chosen.
