Introduction
There are many uses for maps and they can be very helpful! Maps are used in our everyday lives for example driving,hiking, and even walking around the mall. Take a few minutes and look at the map below, what are some objects you notice? The goal is to be able to find objects on the map using the map key.

Task
You will need to know how to use a map key on a map. Students will come up to the board and find one object off of the map that is on the map key.

Process
1. Listen to the presentation Ms.Trader will be presenting
2. Practice the worksheet that is handed out
3. Ms.Trader will put students into groups and each will discuss objects that are on the map key
4. Students will come up to the board one by one and find two objects off of the map key on the map

Conclusion
After this lesson students should be aware of objects that can be present on a map. Students will also have a better understanding on how to find objects on a map by using a map key. Students will be prepared in making their own map and map key of their city or neighborhood!
