WebQuest 1.0 - Journey to France

Introduction

Imagine that you have the chance to visit the country of France.  A country that is absolutely steeped in French culture.  You are going to be planning out a dream trip, a trip that you can take where money is not an object.  Have some fun with this, and see what kinds of experiences you can have!

Task

You will be planning a trip from beginning to end.  You will need to consider travel, visa requirements, passports, hotels, and you will need to set up an itinnerary for the trip.  Below are some questions that will help to guide you as you plan your trip and put your presentation together.  You can choose the format of your presentation, ex. website, Google Sheets, Google Doc etc.

Process

Your presentation should address each of these questions.

1. What documents do you need to travel?

2. How much are the travel costs (air, car rental)?

3. How much are hotel rooms?

4. What are some recommended restaurants that would provide good examples of French culture?

5. What are some of the cultural experiences and events that you would need to check out?

What is the cost for activities?

What would the itennerary be for your entire trip?

1. The Canadian Embassy in France is going to be a great place to start.  It is going to help you to figure out what you will need in terms of travel documents. https://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/france/index.aspx?lang=eng

2. The CIA World Factbook is a great way to learn a little bit about the country before your feet ever touch French soil.  It provides great info to direct your interactions with the French People. https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/countries/france/

3. Our school library has a number of great books on France.  The librarian has set them aside on the shelf when you first enter the library.

4. Travelocity is a great site you can use to see the costs to book hotels, flights and cars.  They will give you the price based on the days that you decide to go. https://www.travelocity.com/

5. Here is a great article that lists some fantastic travel blogs that will help you decide where you want to go and what you want to see. https://sightseekersdelight.com/5286/

6. We are very lucky to have the oportunity to have a webchat with the Mayor of Paris on September 10th at 9;30 AM.  Make sure you have a list of questions ready.  The link is https://meet.google.com/bvr-grsk-ddk

Evaluation

Your final report can be written in any format you like.  You can use tools like Weebly or anything in the Google Suite for example.   You will submit your written assignment in Google classroom.  You will also do a short 3 minute presentation that outlines your trip.  The rubric is included in the Classroom.  Bonne chance, et bon voyage!
