Introduction
Welcome, young geologist. You will be doing research on the different processes and agents that change the surface of the Earth. Processes are what is occurring and an agent is what causes the process. You will find out what made the landforms in the picture, which are an arch, a cliff, and a sand dune.

Task
Your mission is to find out why these landforms have been made.
There is one agent and at least one process in each picture. You must research the processes and agents involved in making these landforms.
Process
1. Find a partner to complete the assignment with you.
2. Research the processes that change the Earth's surface. You can use any textbook or school-related science website. Here is a suggested link: https://www.geolsoc.org.uk/ks3/gsl/education/resources/rockcycle/page3446.html.
3. Make notes as you go along. Use a 3-column T-Chart to organize your notes on all three processes.
4. Research the three agents that make changes to Earth's surface possible. Use any textbook or school-appropriate science website.
5. Write 2-3 sentences on paper that explains what agent and processes make the landform in picture one form. Repeat the same for pictures two and three.
Evaluation
| 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 | |
| Processes | Research was done and notes were taken on the processes that affect the Earth's surface. | Research was done but notes are limited | Research is done but no notes are taken | Little research and notes were taken in the project | No research or notes are evident |
| Agents | Research was done and notes were taken on the agents responsible for Earth's changes | Research was done but notes are limited | Research is done but no notes are taken | Little research and notes were taken in the project | No research or notes are evident |
| Matching | All three pictures have the correct agents and processes | All three pictures have mostly the correctly agents and processes, but a few mistakes are evident | Two pictures are matched correctly or missing processes | One picture matched correctly or missing several facts | None of the pictures are matched correctly |
| Sentences | The writing uses complete sentences and has a paragraph of at least 2-3 sentences | The writing has complete sentences but has too few sentences | No complete sentences but a decent description | No complete sentences in the paragraph and little description | No writing |
| Neatness | Project is clean and organized and follows all directions | Project is nice and neat, but missed some directions | Project is mostly neat and directions are mostly followed | Project is slightly disorganized and there is evidence of not following the process | Very disorganized and not following directions |
Conclusion
You have figured out the landforms!
Good job young geologist. You have researched how wind, water and ice change the Earth's surface by weathering (breaking), erosion (moving), and deposition (dropping) soil sediments. Each one of these things is very important for making landforms such as the ones in the pictures.
