Welcome to the magic world of learning!

Today, we will learn about our community!

We will travel through the wonderful place known as a community!

Are you ready!

We come from different places, but we belong to a same group known as a community.

Now, your mission is to explore one of three different places in our community! We will learn about the police department, the firefighter department, and the library.

A police officer works in a police station. He helps to keep our community safe. You can click the following web page to visit the police department : 

A firefighther works in a fire station. He helps to keep our community safe by preventing and stop fires.

A librarian works in a library. He helps people in the community finding books and resources to read and to study.

To be sure that you fulfill your mission, you will write about your favorite community character in your writing journals "We are a Community."

Now, stop and observe everything that is interesting for you and you would like to remember!

- Take notes

- Choose one of the community helpers you learned about

- In your writing journal " Our Community" write a story about the community character you chose.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

1. Write complete sentences

2. Star your sentence with capital letter and end with a period. Do not forget to leave a space between words.

3. Write a paragraph ( five or more sentences)

4. Draw a picture to illustrate your community character and the kind of job he/she does.

5. When you done with your work, be ready to share it with your classmates.

We have many community helpers!

1. Now, let's see if you can identify the kind of job each community helper does. You have to match the following pictures with the facts you learned about each community helper.

                                         I work in a library.

                                                        I transport a police officer.

                                           I help to prevent assaults.                                     

                                      I transport fire men.

                                               I check in and out books.

                                               I fight fires.

2. If you answer 5 questions correctly, you will get an A-.

3. If you answer 4 questions correctly, you will get a B+.

4. If you answer 3 questions correctly, you will get a B-.

5. If you answer 2 questions correctly, you will get a C+.

6. If you answer 1 question correctly, you will get a C-.

* If you do not like your grade, you can star over again! But, if your grade is satisfactory, you are ready to continue your adventure in your community!

Now, you know that your community is a group of people that work, cooperate, and share many things together.

Also, you discovered that your community is compose of different people with different jobs and professions. You learned that these special people use their skills to help others and to make your community the place it is.

I believe that you are ready to star new adventures in you community! You have a lot of things to explore and discover about your community.

        OH! OH!!!!!

Do not forget to board the community bus! Your community needs your help and your skills! You can be a great community helper!
