This WebQuest will help you broaden what you already know about the Water Cycle and how important it is to our planet. Even on really sunny, warm, summer days, the Water Cycle is still at work here and around the globe! Read on to continue what your assignment for the next 2 Science blocks will be!
Task
Your task is to create an original Water Cycle poster (paper or digital). On this poster, the following items must be drawn and labeled to receive full credit for this assignment. The items are:
- Atmosphere
- Climate
- Clouds
- Condensation

- A short description (small paragraph 3 to 5 sentences) on why you think the Water Cycle is important.
Be sure to use your Science Notebook to keep track of notes as you work your way through the resources and research on your own. You will have two 60-minute blocks of time today and tomorrow to work on this WebQuest assignment. Make sure you take your time and be creative! Your posters will be hung on the bulletin board outside the classroom.

Teacher Page
Hello! My name is Mrs. Samantha Rohr. This WebQuest is based off of Indiana 5th Grade Content Standards. The specific standard is:
Indiana Science Content Standard
5-ESS2-1 Develop a model using an example to describe ways the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and/or atmosphere interact (Indiana, 2023, p. 13).
This WebQuest is over the topic of the Water Cycle. It is important for 5th grade students to understand the hydrosphere and the Water Cycle is a good place to start. This includes various vocabulary words, definitions, and models to give students a clear idea of the process.
The multiple intelligences students have in the classroom can benefit from this WebQuest. There are elements that meet the needs of linguistic, spatial, and intrapersonal learners. Interpersonal and kinesthetic learners can also benefit when allowing students to working together in different areas around the classroom. Having various opportunities in this WebQuests allow students the opportunity to participate in this differentiation activity using student devices like laptops and tablets. For the assessment, students also have the ability to complete the poster online or on paper to help balance time and any issues that may arise due to the use of technology (Marenus, 2025).
