Introduction
Imagine you're a volcanologist, someone who studies volcanoes. You have been chosen to present your findings on a volcano you discovered in your 5th grade science class. It must be one of the four types of volcanoes which are cinder cone volcano, composite volcano, shield volcano, and lava domes.

Task
Build a volcano, present it to the class and tell what kind of volcano it is plus name a place where one of those volcanoes are located in the world, and finally make it erupt.
Process
1. Pick one of the four types of volcanoes.
2. Find a place in the world that has the volcano you have chosen. Example: There are cinder cone volcanoes on the flanks of Mauna Kea in Hawaii.
3. Build a volcano and make it erupt.
Materials: A 2 liter bottle without a lid, newspaper, white glue, water, a bowl, a large cardboard box, scissors, paint and brushes, white vinegar, baking soda, and a funnel.
How to:
-Cut a large square out of your cardboard box to make the base board.
-Using white glue, stick the bottom of the 2 liter bottle to the base board.
-Rip newspaper in half, and use one of the halves to cut into one-inch strips.
-In bowl, create a mixture of thin white glue and water.
-Scrunch up the sheets of the remaining newspaper that was not cut into strips, submerge it in the glue mixture and stick it on to the cardboard around the base of the bottle. Continue to use scrunched-up newspaper to build up the volcano around the sides of the drink bottle going all the way up to the top of the bottle.
-Dip the strips of newspaper into glue mixture and lay them on top of each other, covering the scrunched-up paper, from the bottle opening to the cardboard base. Add several layers of paper until the shape resembles a volcano.
-Leave to dry for at least 24 hours.
-Once dry, use paint to decorate the volcano.
-Using the funnel add two or three tablespoons of baking soda to the bottle.
-Then add the white vinegar and make the volcano erupt.
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated on knowing the volcano they chose, by knowing a destination of the volcano, and by having a volcano and making it erupt.
