Vertebrate Systems

Introduction

Hello Explorers,

In this Webquest we will be using our critical thinking skills to compare and contrast the common vertebrate systems in frogs as well as in humans. The digestive, circulatory, nervous, excretory, skeletal, muscular, endocrine, respiratory, reproductive and integumentary systems exist in all classes of the phylum chordata with only minor changes in structure that makes major changes in function.

Process

Task 1

       Explore the PowerPoint linked below.

https://www.slideshare.net/TaniaMackey/functions-of-the-frogs-body-syst…

Task 2

Analyze the material given in this next slideshow.

Task 3

Watch the following video to learn more about frog/human similarities and differences.

Task 4

Listen to this rap song created by another class, helps in identifying the different organ systems.

Evaluation

Question:

1.  What is the main difference between human reproduction and frog reproduction, based on the slide?

2.  What are the large leg muscles used for in frogs?                                                            In humans?

3.  What is the structural difference between a frog heart and a human heart?

Conclusion

In conclusion, write a full paragraph describing another similarity between frog and human anatomy that leads you to believe there is an evolutionary link between them.  In the paragraph describe the similarity as well as define structures and functions.
