This WebQuest is designed to engage students in explorative learning as it relates to the Part of Speech- Verbs. Opportunities will present itself for students to develop their word identification and sentence construction skills.

By the end of the WebQuest, students should be able to:

  • identify at least 5 verbs from 
  • use up to 5 verbs in sentences
  • create a digital story with at least 3 verbs per page
  • draw picture to match sentences with verbs

Engagement on another level. Students will have fun while advancing their language skills. 

Task

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to use verbs correctly to create descriptive written piece. Their sentences will take on a life of their own as they create sentences in stories and illustrations.

Process

The activity will begin with the students viewing  and following the movements in the video- Action Song.

After following the video, the students will create a list of the verbs mentioned in the video and  more of their own using the table below.

They will then insert all the verbs on the Wheel of names. They will spin the wheel 5 times. For each verb that the wheel lands on, they will use the verb to create a sentence.

The students will then watch a video that explains how verbs are used.

Evaluation

The students will match verbs to  appropriate picture- https://www.liveworksheets.com/worksheets/en/English_as_a_Second_Language_(ESL)/Verbs/Action_words_lh1636141ya.

They will also choose the most appropriate verb to complete the sentences given on the live worksheet. 

Conclusion

Students will complete the live worksheet and then write one (1) sentence about what they have learnt.
