Thank you, students, for using this WebQuest! Today we learnt about the different types of verbs namely, transitive, intransitive, linking and action verbs. This lesson was a very engaging and interesting lesson that was aimed at building on your prior knowledge. You are encouraged to write a journal entry reflecting on the experience you had while utilizing this WebQuest.
Key takeaways:
1. Verbs describe an action carried out by an individual.
2. Different verbs have different functions.
3. A transitive verb is a verb that requires an object to receive the action.
4. An intransitive verb is a verb that does not need a direct object to receive the action being carried out.
5. An action verb is a verb that specifically expresses what a person is doing or has done.
4. A linking verb connects the subject of a sentence with the subject compliment that renames or describes the subject.
What do you think makes a linking verb different from that of a transitive verb? Can you think of any examples to demonstrate this?
