INTRODUCTION
In eighth grade, you will study Georgia geography, history, government, and economics. This webquest, about the five geographic regions of Georgia, is a preview to help prepare you for next year. Each region has different types of land, climates, natural resources, industries and reasons to travel to Georgia. You will be discovering all this and more as you explore Georgia, the empire state of the south!!

TASK INSTRUCTIONS
A. As a group of 3 students, you will create a poster-sized map of Georgia. Use information from the links above to help you complete your assigned role. You may use poster board or a piece of roll paper at least the size of a poster board. Draw an outline map of Georgia with pencil and retrace in black. You will be responsible for completing it as described with crayons, markers or colored pencils. The completed map will contain the following clearly labeled features that you will complete in the Process portion of this webquest:
- Georgia's 5 geographic regions should be outlined and labeled in black.
- the name and location of Georgia's 5 largest cities in black
- the name and location of Georgia's highest point in elevation in brown
- Appalachian Mountains drawn and labeled in orange
- Savannah and Chattahoochee Rivers drawn and labeled in blue
- Okefenokee Swamp drawn and labeled in green
- Georgia's barrier islands drawn and labeled in red
- The Fall Line drawn and labeled in purple
The task of completing the map will be divided into three roles: the Mountaineer, the Piedmonter, and the Plains Person.
B. Each role will require the assignee to answer his or her own set of questions. Upon completing the map together, the group will explain their findings to each other.
C. As a group, you will present your map and facts. Describe various features and locations. Be prepared to explain facts about the part of Georgia you were assigned.

The MOUNTAINEER


The Mountaineer is responsible for the three geographic regions of North Georgia (The Ridge and Valley region, the Appalachian Plateau, and the Blue Ridge region). Remember to follow the instructions for coloring of the various features (see Task). You are responsible for labeling the following on the map:
- The three regions in North Georgia
- Appalachian Mountains
- Highest point in elevation in Georgia
- A natural resource found in the North Georgia mountains
Also, use the links provided to gather information on the following. Write your responses on your own paper. Use this information to help you describe facts during your group presentation of the map.
1. Describe the temperature and climate in North Georgia.
2. Name and describe 2 industries located in North Georgia.
3. Name 3 attractions that draw visitors to North Georgia.
4. North Georgia is mostly rural, or full of countryside and small towns, rather than huge cities and homes. How might the landforms and terrain of North Georgia lead to less development and population?
The PIEDMONTER

The Piedmonter is responsible for the Piedmont region of Georgia. Remember to follow the instructions for coloring of the various features. You are responsible for labeling the following on the map:
- The Piedmont region
- Cities of Atlanta, Augusta, Macon, and Columbus
- A natural resource found in the Piedmont
- Savannah and Chattahoochee Rivers
- Fall Line

The PLAINS PERSON
The Plains Person is responsible for the geographic region of south Georgia (Inner Coastal Plains and Outer Coastal Plains). Remember to follow the instructions for coloring of the various features. You are responsible for labeling the following on the map:
- The coastal region
- City of Savannah
- A natural resource found in the south Georgia
- Okefenokee Swamp
- Barrier islands

- Recreation (FUN) opportunities in different parts of Georgia
