Cooking With Fractions!

Introduction

It is your mom's birthday. You and your "siblings" are going to surprise her and invite some friends and family over for dinner and dessert. In order to do this, you have to alter the recipies accordingly to have enough food.. It is important that you add or subtract the fractions correctly so that the recipes turn out right. Ask as many questions as needed. One mistake could make a big mess...









Task

1. Your first task is to adjust the Swiss Chicken recipe for 15 people.

Be sure to simplify fractions if needed.

Record completed conversion of recipe, along with directions, in a Word document and submit.

2. Your second task is to adjust the No Bake Peanut Butter Bar recipe for 16 people.

Be sure to simplify fractions if needed.

Record completed conversion of recipe, along with directions, in a Word document and submit.

3. At one group member's house, prepare your group's assigned recipe to share with the class.

Swiss Chicken

 

 

Ingredients

6 boneless skinless chicken breasts

1 package of Swiss cheese slices

10 1/4 ounces cream of chicken soup

10 1/4 ounces cream of celery soup

8 ounces chicken stuffing mix

 

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Arrange chicken breasts in the baking dish. Place Swiss cheese on top of each chicken breast, overlapping if desired.

Combine cream of chicken soup and cream of celery soup in a medium bowl, and pour over chicken breasts.

Sprinkle with dry chicken stuffing mix.

Cover with foil and bake for 50 minutes or until the chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear.

Serves 6.

 

 No Bake Peanut Butter Bars

 

Ingredients

1 cup butter, melted

2 cups graham cracker crumbs (can used boxed crumbs or grind whole crackers in a food processor with an adults assistance)

2 cups powdered sugar

1 cup + 4 tablespoons reduced fat creamy peanut butter

1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips

 Directions

In a medium bowl, mix together the mleted butter, graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, and 1 cup peanut butter until well blended.

Press evenly into the bottow of an unreased 9x13 inch pan.

In the microwave, melt the chocolate chips with the remaining peanut butter, stirring every 30 seconds until melted and smooth.

Spread over the peanut butter layer.

Refrgerate for a at least one hour before cutting into squares.

Serves 24.
