U.S. Modern History: Vocabulary List 1

Introduction

In order to understand our discussion about Ukraine and our Modern History Unit, you will be doing some foundational work-vocabulary.  

Task

Your task: To write down (in your notebooks), find and explain the following 8 key vocabulary words.

  1. Ideology

  2. Communist (Communism)

  3. Capitalist (Capitalism)

  4. Cold War

  5. Soviet Union/USSR

  6. Warsaw Pact

  7. Nato

  8. United Nation

Process

You will be looking up the information on reliable websites. Remember to use CAARP as way to determine if a website is reliable. You're welcome to work with a partner and use 1 website that is NOT wikipedia. 

Evaluation

I will be checking your notebooks (remember our notes practice???). You should have the following:

  1. Title
  2. Vocabulary Word
  3. Definition / What Word Stands For
  4. Example/ Explanation of Key Word in 1 to 2 Sentence. 

 

Conclusion

You should have the vocabulary definitions and examples for the following 8 vocabulary words:

  5. Soviet Union/USSR
