Unlocking Success: Characteristics of Goal Achievers

Introduction

My dear students! Have you ever asked yourselves : "What does it take to turn dreams into reality?".... Today we are going to explore the traits and habits of successful people and how these can be applied to achieve our own goals.

Let's follow the link and use the traditional fairy tale of Lazy Jack as a metaphor for growth and learning.

  • What key traits does Lazy Jack demonstrate throughout the story?
  • In what ways do Lazy Jack's mistakes contribute to his eventual success?
Task

You will research and identify traits that successful individuals possess, using specified articles as resources, while drawing parallels to Jack's experiences.

You have two alternatives for your final project:

Option 1: Create a digital presentation (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Slides) that includes:

  • key characteristics that contribute to achieving goals
  • summaries of how each characteristic contributes to success
  • a real-life example of an individual who embodies these traits and a well-known quote of his/hers

Option 2: Create a personality quiz titled "Winner or Quitter?" using Web2 tools (Google Forms, Typeform etc.) that includes:

  • 9 multiple-choice questions
  •  two proposed answers for each question
  •  two options (winner, quitter) in the results
Process

The proposed steps will help you form your product.

Step 1: Reading and Exploring

Follow the links and read the proposed articles. Keep notes of whatever you believe is essential for your purpose. In each article there are hyperlinks available to follow, if you wish to gain a deeper understanding of specific psychological terms. Of course you are welcome to use a wiki dictionary to look up the definitions of these terms instead.

Note: It is advisable that you skim and scan through the texts to obtain the information you need. Do not target your efforts towards a thorough analysis of each particular article. No time for that!!!

Step 2: Checking on Comprehension

Follow the links and complete the quizzes to gain an insight into the basic pivots around which you should structure your products.

Step 3: Discussing on the findings

Discuss your findings, focusing on which traits you believe are most crucial for achieving goals. You can draw connections to Lazy Jack’s experiences and the lessons he learned.

Step 4: Formulating the final product

Prepare your final product and share it with your teacher and friends in this month's e-class!
