Unidad 3 - 1° Medio "The Arts"

Introduction

 

Have you ever been to a museum? / How much do you know about Arts?

Task

TASK 01: By the end of this activity, in groups, you will make an oral presentation about "The Arts" topic.



* You and your group will have to watch videos about "Arts" and summarize them.

* You will also use visual aids and media resources for your final presentation.

 

TASK 02: You and your group will create a "Kahoot" or "Menti" with questions for the rest of the class.

* Make sure to create 8 questions about your presentation (Arts topic).

Process

TASK 1  DIRECTIONS:



* In groups of 4 people watch the following YouTube videos about "Art" down below.

* Extract and summarize the main ideas of the videos.

* Prepare a 5 - 8 minutes oral presentation using PPT, Google slides, Prezi or Canvas. (your choice)

* Be ready to present to the class.

* EVERYONE PARTICIPATES.

 

TASK 2 DIRECTIONS:

*  Create a Kahoot or menti with 8 questions based on your presentation.

* Make sure you include all the main ideas, facts, and vocabulary related to the topic and your presentation.

* Include images, true/false questions, alternative or open questions. That is up to you.

* Be ready to apply your Kahoot or menti at the end of your presentation.

Conclusion

"Art" itself is more than a beautiful piece of painting or a sculpture; there are many types of it.

(Literature, visual arts, graphic arts, design and plastic arts, theatre, dancing, singing and even acting too)

Colleagues!

  • This activity was extracted and adapted from the National Curriculum, for 1° Medio students.
  • The main objective of this activity was not just to encourage students to work collaboratively with their classmates but also to make them use different skills. 
  • In task 1, students were exposed to a video (listening skill) in which they had to use strategies; such as taking notes and summarizing (writing), to use that information to create their presentation. 
  • Furthermore, to encourage students to think outside of the box, in the second task they had to create 8 questions; which had to be based on their presentation, using either Mentimeter or Kahoot. 

We recommend these types of activities since they help students to acknowledge the importance of using and incorporating ICT´s in their future presentations.
