Introduction
Sunshine State Standards being addressed:
Associate and identify words of action or feeling with watching or performing simple dances.
The students will have the opportunity to demonstrate words through dance and movement. Using action and movement to express themselves is the main focus during this activity. Students will demonstrate actions and do this in sequence.
Student will learn to communicate through dance using different emotions/feelings.
Student will learn to understand another students dance and express what they received from their dance of emotions/feelings.
Task
The students will perform a variety of words using dance as their verbiages. They will also identify those words with feelings and action. They will watch and perform with one another as communication. They will use critical thinking during this activity. The students will learn to communicate with one another through dance but mostly with feelings and action words.
- While watching they will journal the actions of the other students and their thought.
- They will all perform using color for active expression (poster boards or other items)
- Each will draw a picture of the expression that they use the most
Process
- The students will review the FEELINGS worksheet. The worksheet is to help them to learn the different emotions by the word first.
- After the class review the work sheet together they will then break off into groups of two or three people.
- Once the groups have been established they will them cut and divide the feelings agmost each other in that group.
- Each person will then take the time to review there feeling cards. The cards they have are to be researched individually. While researching they will learn about the colors that expresses that feeling to help them understand it better.
- Each student will create a medley of dances to express those feelings with her/his group. They must use color, hand, feet, facial and their entire body to express the feeling. But in order to be effective they must dance the feeling out as if they are tow people communication one feeling verses another.
- The other members in the group must write out what feelings that performer is presenting.
- At the end everyone will share their thoughts
- After everyone is completed they will draw a picture of the emotion/feeling they use the most

Conclusion
The children have performed great and are now very aware that feelings can be expressed through dance and speaking. This activity provided them skills in critical thinking and communication through dance.
