Understanding Learning: How Does It Work?

Introduction

Have you ever asked yourself, the questions of "How do people learn new skills/habits" and "how they are able to remember information from long ago?." Well you're not the one that has wondered this. In fact, these questions have been explored/forwarded by many psychologists before you, in hopes of finding the answer.

In this Webquest, you are tasked with researching three major theories that explore the questions above:

  • Behaviorism
  • Cognitive Psychology
  • Social Cognitive Theory

By the end of this task, you will be able to compare each theories learning style and determine which one is best suited for you!

Task

You will work individually to:

  • Research each learning theory using provided resourses:
  • Create a mindmap explaining each theories view on learning.
  • Create a final product, showing your research/findings (Choose One):
  1. Informative Brochure
  2. Presentation

(Your presentations/brochures must include a title, short explanation of each theory, classroom examples, and conclusion)

  • Finally, submit or present your final product.

Step 2: Create a Chart/Mind-map of the Research

Step 3: Choose Your Final Product

  1. Informative Brochure
  • Design a brochure that explaining the theories.
  1. Slide Presentation
  • Create presentation including each theory and way that each can be applied in the classroom. (6-8 slides total)

Step 4: Submit the Final Product

  • Share your product
  • Be prepared to be answer questions such as:
  1. Which theory do you think works well?
  2. What make each theory different from the other?
  3. After having research, in your opinion, how does learning occur?
