A Trip to the Mall

Welcome to your English-speaking adventure!

Imagine you are going to the mall to shop, enjoy some food, and explore. On this trip, your mission is to practice speaking English in real-life situations like asking for directions, buying items, and ordering food. These are important skills that will help you feel confident in everyday conversations.

You will visit a mall (or a similar location or create a simulation at home with your family). During your trip, you will:

1. Ask for directions to a specific location.
2. Practice shopping by asking for an item and interacting with a salesperson.
3. Order a snack or drink from a café or food court.
4. Engage in a casual conversation if possible.

After the trip, you will reflect on your experience and share what you learned with the class.

• Preparation (Before the Trip):

  • Review the key vocabulary and phrases in the provided handout (e.g., "Excuse me, where is...?", "I’m looking for...").

  • Practice with a family member or peer through a role-play activity in class.

• At the Mall (During the Trip):

  • Use your English skills to complete the tasks:
    • Ask for directions.
    • Interact with a salesperson.
    • Order food or a drink.
    • Start a brief casual conversation, if comfortable.
  • Write down or record notes about the responses you hear.

• Reflection (After the Trip):

  • Reflect on your experience by answering these questions:
    • What was easy or difficult?
    • How did people respond to you?
    • What new words or phrases did you learn?
  • Prepare a short written or recorded summary to share with the class.

• Class Presentation:

  • Share your reflection and experience with the class.
  • Discuss what you learned and receive feedback from your peers and teacher.

Evaluation

Your success will be evaluated based on:

1. Engagement: Did you participate in each task?
2. Speaking Effort: Did you use the target phrases and vocabulary?
3. Reflection: Was your summary thoughtful and complete?
4. Class Presentation: Did you share your experiences clearly?
