Travelling to the United Kingdom

Introduction

Today you will have the chance to travel around the UK and gather some information about each part of the country.

Task

There are 16 of you in the class. You will have to form 4 groups (4 people in each) and discover 4 parts of the UK. The first group will go to England, the second - to Wales, the third- to Scotland, and the fourth will go to Northern Ireland. You are to get information about your part 1) Famous cities 2) Interesting tourist attractions  3) Geography (climate, rivers, lakes, mountains, valleys) 4) The capital, the flag, the saint and the symbols.

At the end of your trip, mark parts of the UK on the map.

Process

The first load of work you will do individually. Divide the task between the members of your group and search for information. ( During your joyrney you may use the links from the credits and\or look for different internet resources. You will have 1 week to complete your personal task. After it, there will be some group work. You will have to share the information with other members of your group and make a presentation about your part of the country. Use Microsoft Power Point or whatever platform you like. In two weeks you will present the results of your research in class.

Evaluation

Your marks will consist of two parts. The first part will be for the group work. Your classmates will estimate your presentations with 1-10 points. The second part is the estimation of your personal results. You will be given from 1 to 10 points by the teacher. 16-20 points is an excellent mark, 13-15 points is a good mark, 9-12 points is a satisfactory mark, and less than 8 points is a bad mark.

During this web-quest you will go on a trip to the UK, where you will learn a lot of interesting information about this wonderful country. You will be able to develop your research, communicative and creative abilities. I am sure you will do a great job! Good luck!
