Travelling Around the World!

Introduction

Most of us have the urge to travel. However, our choices of ideal destination are widely varied. Some choose to travel for adventure and activity, while others seek to unwind and relax in leisure. Some people are drawn to places where they can experience other cultures, while others seek out places of great natural beauty and ecological wonder.



In this WebQuest, you and your group will be considering many of these variables as you collaboratively plan a short description of a place you would like to visit!

Have Fun and convince every one about your choice!

Task

The task will be divided into three parts.

  1. In groups of no more than four students, remember the video and think about the country you would like to write about and which elements you would like to highlight. Share your ideas with your group.
  2. After that,  prepare your posters and use any resource to call your audience attention. 
  3. Finally, share your production! Have Fun!

 CONTEXT: Imagine you have to make a poster for a Tourist Agency where you have to convince as many people as you can to travel to that place! 

Be sure you can clearly articulate why you have chosen your selected destination. Identify what specific things you plan to have people do which are unique to your chosen location? Why is your destination special and what kind of tourists would want to travel there?

PHASE 1:
  • Sit together and watch the video again. Compare and share information. Reflect on the main ideas you need to produce your poster. 
PHASE 2:
  • Look at the following resources, listen to each other and decide wich place you are going to speak about. Each group should choose a destination try to avoid repetition.

  • Once you have chosen your destination and read about it, you can plan your first draft, focus attention on: 
a. Which destination is it and where is located. (Short introduction.) 
b. What would you do there? What to see, or what to do. 
c. Food and Drink you could try there.
d. An Interesting thing about that place. (Be creative)

Products

Each group will present what they have prepared. The rest of the groups will have to listen, take notes, be prepared to ask questions, clear out doubts and give feedback.

Report /analysis and practice phase:

  1. Listen to each other.
  2. Write down comments.
  3. Select language that need to be improved.
  4. Share comments, reflect, give feedback to each other.
 
Evaluation

The class will give feedback. They can highlight spelling or pronunciation mistakes if it is necessary. Try to pay attention to each group and share positive comments.

On your quest you learned how to effectively research  a travel destination and make a travel poster for tourists. You have identified the main points of your destination, such as places of cultural, historical and natural interest. You also worked out the organization of the poster by developing a structure that included activities to do there. 

Consider what you learned and what helped you learn it, what aspects of the project you enjoyed, what you found challenging, and what you would like to explore further.
