Introduction
Australia has a close relationship with its neighbour Asia. In fact many people from both countries frequently visit the other. We will be learning about Australia, its relationship with Asian countries and the similarities and differences between them.
Task
You have just landed your dream job as a reporter for a major travel company. The first job your boss has given you is to gather research about countries in the Asian region. They have told you that your finished product can be presented as either a fabulous travel brochure or a segment on their TV travel show.
Process
Step 1.
Using the link below and the google doc provided by your teacher answer the following questions about Asia. It is important you make a copy of the doc before you start answering the questions. Upon completion you need to save this in your Inquiry section of your Google Drive and title it Geography webquest step 1.

Step 2.
As a travel journalist it is important that you know how far away popular Asian destinations are from major capital cities in Australia. Use the atlas provided by your boss to find a map and use the scale located at the bottom to work out how far (distance in km) the following Asian cities are from Canberra.
- Bangkok, Tokyo, Beijing, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Taipei
Step 3.
Travellers will want to know about the religions, languages and traditions that different regions have so that they can compare them to Australia's. Use the links below or Google Search Engine to research these topics and then use Popplet to sort and compare the information you collect. You will need to create two seperate Popplets one for Asia and one for Australia.

Step 4.
Your Travelling audience will want to know what money (currency) they will need in an Asian country. Research and choose 3 currency types and then use the exchange rate link to work out the value of the Australian Dollar compared to each of the chosen Asian Currencies. Fill in the gaps on the google doc provided to answer this question.

Step 6
Fabulous Food
Many dishes we eat in Australia are inspired by Asian cuisine. Explore different food dishes eaten in Asia, choose one and write a procedure instructing someone how to make it.
Use the Google Search Engine and make sure you type in appropriate key words to narrow your search.
Step 7
Laws and Rules
Sometimes it is important to know the laws and rules of the countries you travel to as they often differ from the ones we have in Australia. Some may seem strange or even silly to us. Click on the link below, read and reflect on why these people might have offended Malaysian authorities and people. Then see if you can research and find some laws that people travelling from Australia to an Asian country might need to know.
Step 8
You have completed many tasks and have research much information. You are now ready to apply what you have learnt to creating your own travel brochure or TV travel segment. Refer to your boss (teacher) for further instruction and to clarify questions.
