It's Nothing Like the Book

Introduction

Introduction:

You are a movie critic who has been chosen to view the big blockbuster movie that just came out! You need to review the movie and compare it to the beloved book that it was based on. Everyone wants to know how similar or different the movie is from the book and they all are waiting with bated-breath for your review.

Task

Task: The class is broken into 5 groups. Each group has already read a book. Now they will watch the movie. One person will contrast the main character, two people will compare 2 characters, 2 people will compare a major event in the story. They must work together to create a presentation to present to the class.

Process

Process: You will have read five books over the time span of this year. The teacher will get the movie reserved through the library and the students will have a day where they can all watch a different movie. After each group finishes their movie they should start on their presentation. The options you guys have for a presentation are Powerpoint, Prezi, or a video. Groups will be separated into two teams

1. Characters- the first team will look at the differences of the characters between the book and the movie. Focus on the difference in how are they described in the book and then how are they portrayed in the movie. For example; how they react to situations and things they say/do differently.

2. Events- this team will focus on the differences in the major events in the book and the movie. You should focus on what is exactly said and what happens.

Use these two things and make a presentation out of it.
