Introduction

There is a lack of health care services available to children with disabilities and special health care needs within the foster care system. Nearly 14 million children with developmental disabilities in the United States have ongoing health issues that can impair their ability to function and, in some cases, shorten their lives. The lack of health services provided to children with special health care needs (CSHCN) has or are at risk of having chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions. If health-care needs demands go without attention for children with developmental disabilities the lack of health care services has been linked to poor adult health and functional status outcomes, which CSHCN with developmental disabilities are already predisposed to (Lindly, et al., 2016). Children with disabilities are the most vulnerable population in the child welfare system and would benefit from comprehensive and consistent health care coverage, early and continuous screening, family-centered care, care financing, and health and supportive services. (Population Reference Bureau, 2022).

Children With Special Needs: Definition and Challenges

Process

Write a proposal for your plan. The easiest way to do this is to find a model grant proposal and follow that.

Background of Business:

After extensive research, there has been a gap in the literature regarding the issue that there is a lack of health services provided to children with disabilities or special needs care. There is a need for disabled children to have a range of health services including, behavioral, mental, and physical conditions. In findings children that do not receive health care services can worsen their condition and impact their developmental stages. Disabled children's human rights are also violated when their needs are not met or ignored, robbing them of their right to adequate well-being.

Goals and Objectives:

The goal is to meet the needs of disabled children with the demand for health care services, as well as to provide them with services that benefit their well-being and overcome the obstacles they face.

The objective is to provide health care services that range from mental, physical, and behavioral conditions.

Organizational Plan

The administration manager is in charge of providing the company with a wide range of office management and support services, such as answering phones, scheduling/managing the calendar, making/confirming meeting arrangements, and writing communications.

The operation manager will be in charge of hiring, training, and maintaining quality assurance programs.

Supervisors are in charge of ensuring that employees have the necessary skills and responsibilities to benefit clients.

Workers are professionals who provide services to clients.

There will be policies and social practices that will shape the workplace environment for both employees and clients. The facility will have defined responsibilities and skills for each professional.

Financial Plan

The process will consist of behavioral therapists, social workers, therapists, and medical professionals, a request of 1 million for services to the clients, staff, and operation costs. Annual operating costs in community-based centers are $57,000, compared to 181,040 in institutions. Insurance billing, fundraising, donations, and grants would generate revenue for the organizations.

Evaluation

Research issues, policies, and laws regarding this unmet need. Make a persuasive argument.

Many disabled children have been deprived of their liberty, separated from their families either temporarily or permanently. These are the families who can benefit from prevention or intervention services in order to continue parenting their disabled children. Children with disabilities are among the most vulnerable populations in the child welfare system to neglect, abuse, and maltreatment. Without health services, these children's development is hampered, resulting in greater isolation and fewer opportunities to socialize, which may contribute to low self-esteem and fewer opportunities to learn how to prevent or end abuse.

Conclusion

Reflections what can you do to help?

As a future social worker, I can advocate for and raise awareness about the issue. There is a lack of research pertaining to the lack of services provided to disabled children, so I can continue researching and documenting the information that I have uncovered thus far. It is critical to be aware of the issues that contribute to social injustice in vulnerable populations. The more information I retain, the better I will be able to inform agencies and other social work professionals about the issues. This assignment demonstrated how problems can be solved by devising a plan to combat the problem.
