Introduction
Every student in an agriculture class is required to have a Supervised Agriculture Experience, also known as an SAE. There are two types of SAE's, Foundational and Immersion, under the Immersion SAE category there are 5 subcategories. The subcategories are placement/internship, ownership/entrepreneurship, research: experimental, analysis or invention, school-based enterprise, and service learning.
Task
You are going to research the different types of SAE's and find one that you think you would like to participate in, after you find an SAE you like you are going to create an SAE plan.
Process
Follow these instructions below:
- Go to the Texas FFA website https://www.texasffa.org/sae
- You may also use the SAE for All website https://saeforall.org/
- Chose the option "I'm a Student-Access Student Resources"
- For Foundational SAE's go to the section titled "Independent Learning Guide Awareness Grades 6-9" and download the guide
- For Immersion SAE's go to the section for the category you are most interested in and download the guide.
- Pick which SAE category that you can participate in based on things you already do or could easily begin to do.
- Some categories will require a specific activity to participate in, pick the activity that you feel will be the best option for you.
- Once you have picked your SAE category go to the AET website https://www.theaet.com/SAEPlans and fill out the word document plan for your SAE category.
- Email me your completed SAE plan

Conclusion
You have now researched the different types of SAE's available, selected the SAE you want to participate in, and created your SAE plan. We are going to continue to work on your SAE's throughout the school year to complete your requirement to have an SAE since you are in an agriculture class.
