Special Education WebQuest

Introduction

This WebQuest is designed to give you a rich introduction to special education. What is special education? Well, the simple version of special education is adjustments and services that aid students who have disabilities that interfere with their learning. Through this WebQuest we will take a deeper dive into what special education is, who benefits from special education and what it takes to receive special education aid, how special education may differ from state-to-state, and what we can do to further help people who know someone with special education needs or someone who has special education needs.

How to Speak about Special Education Needs

Task

Students will view the resources and links so they can answer questions pertaining to special education. Students are to record their answers to the questions and then create their own presentation on special education. This will show understanding of the learned material in the students’ own way. Within the presentation at the end students will formulate their own opinions on which state they feel is the best when it comes to special education and explain why.

Process
  1. Students will answer questions that pertain to and are included in all the resources and links provided. *Students will be given a participation grade for completing these questions*
  2. Students will then create their own presentation on special education that will include all required elements as in the rubric.
  3. Within the presentation that students are to create they will also formulate and provide their own perspective and feelings on how special education is handled from state-to-state and which they feel is the best when it comes to providing Special Education and why they feel that way.

Conclusion

WebQuest are a great way to keep students engaged in current times (through the internet) and with whatever topic is being discussed. In our case, this WebQuest was designed to give students a rich introduction into special education.

 

After completing this WebQuest students are expected to have learned what special education is, who benefits from special education, what it takes to receive special education aid, how special education may differ from state-to-state, and what we can do to further help people who know someone with special education needs or someone who has special education needs. Students will have also completed their own work (the presentation) towards special education and educating those who do not know about special education.
