The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Introduction

Do you feel as if the very Hungry Caterpillar is only for Kindergarteners? If you answered yes, then you are wrong. In this class we will identify proper and common nouns. We will recognize how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. We will also create our own books, and work on our presentation skills.

Task

Your job is simple, over the next week, for fifteen minutes a day; you will be in a group to work on this project.  In a group of three you must

  • find out how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly.
  • Also you must be able to present to me this process in no longer than ten minutes.

In addition

  •  tell me five common nouns and ten proper nouns used in The Very Hungry Caterpillar

You will also create a booklet answering prompts I will hand out daily.

Process

To begin with you will need to look up information on the process of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly, as well as determining five common and ten proper nouns used in the story. Lastly you will answer the daily prompt.

  • The group will consist of three members; a reporter, a researcher, and a speaker. The researcher is responsible for looking up the information, the recorder is responsible for compiling it all, while the speaker is responsible for relaying the information to me and the class.

  • The group will be expected to work on their own, but I as well as other groups will be available for assistance when needed.

  • Each member will be responsible for the final product, and should be ready to present their findings to me as well as the entire class.

  • Be sure to use the resources presented. They will help you not only in finding out how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, but will make the project much easier.

  • These resources are to be used. They are also found in the process tab.
