In this lesson we will be learning about the 9 plants in out solar system. We will also be learning in what order the are in.

In this lesson we will ONLY  be learning about the planets, we will learn about everything else that is in the solar system in the next few weeks

You will soon receive a journal that we will call MY SOLAR SYSTEM JOURNAL. This is where you may write anything that we learn about the solar system. You will also get writing prompts each week. Please write neatly as I will collect these at the end of our lesson, so that I can show you your progress.

About the Solar System

As you may know, we live on a wonderful planet called Earth. Did you know that the Earth is more than 4.5 BILLION years old? On Earth there are more than 7 BILLION people!

To start exploring we are going to read about each of the planets!

Before we being, I would like to know if YOU know anything about the planets or solar system. If you do please write it on the 1ST page of your Solar system journal. If you do not know anything about the solar system write down what you would like to learn.

Now that you have learned about each planet lets see if you can remember in what order they go in!http://www.softschools.com/science/sm_kids_games/pace/solar_syste

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now lets have some fun. Make your own solar system by using this website!

feel free to move things around and be as creative as you want! This is your project, so it can not be wrong but we have some guidelines:

1. You will have to tell us about each planet and if you decide to rename it.

2. Why did you choose to name it that way?

3. What lives on each planets? Does anything live there at all?

4. Does your solar system have any rules or laws?
