Introduction

This web quest will allow the student to explore the many aspects of erosion and its effects on their environment

Task

Students will work in groups of 4 to explore the four types of erosion. Each person in the group will choose which of the four types they would like to explore. They will then do research and present their knowledge to their group. After they have all the information they need, each student will create a way to present their knowledge to the whole class.

Process

Before you being, you will need to decide who is going to cover which of the following topics of Erosion:

Water, Wind, Ice, By Vegetation

Once you have chosen what topic you each are going to research, you will need to choose one of the followings on how you are going to present your information.

  • Powerpoint

    • Your group as a whole will create one powerpoint. Each student will present a slide or two on their topic.
    • How to create a powerpoint
  • Broadcast

  • Diorama

    • Create a shoebox diorama of what your topic looks like. With a brief description of what you found.
    • Example
  • Report

    • Write a one-page report on what you found.

 Now that you have your topic and your form of presentation, you need to research.

Conclusion

Now that you have finished your research on erosion, work with your group to come up with a list of 8 things you learned. 

Next, you each are going to write one paragraph (5-7 sentences) that 

  • tell what you think is the biggest thing affecting the Earth is
  • real life examples of erosion you have seen
  • Which type of presentation you enjoyed seeing the most (Powerpoint, News Broadcast, Diorama, Report)
  • If you could have chosen a different type of erosion to research which would it have been?

Students will work together to discover the 4 main types of erosion. They will use this knowledge to make a physical display that will be presented to the class.
