Butterflies are fascinating insects. Have you ever wondered where a butterfly comes from?

What do you know about their life circle? At the end of this activity

you and your group members should have a better understanding of the life circle of butterflies.

You will be able to answer the questions of how a caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly.

Today, the students will learn about how a butterfly becomes an adult.Butterfly has four stages:

     1. Egg Stage

     2. Caterpillar Stage (lava) 

     3. Chrysalis Stage (pupa) 

     4. Butterfly

Then investigate the life cycle of butterfly. At the end of this lesson, the students will be able to write,identify, and explain each stage of the life cycle of butterfly.

Process

First, you are going to look at how a butterfly changes.  There are four stages.  As you look at each of the four stages, discuss what you see with your partner. 

  • Does this match what we saw with our own butterfly in class? 
  • What is different? 
  • What questions do you have?
  • Can you find the answer to your question?

    After you have discusses each stage with your partner, you will make some notes in your journal.

2. Write and explain each stage below your picture.
