Introduction
It is 2032 and the 1960s have long been forgotten. You have been in cyber-sleep for 50 years and now that you're awake, your mission is to teach this "stiff and uptight society" America has become, about all the great occurences of your youth in the sixties. You will need to prepare a visual tour through the 1960s for the local high school students, exposing them to the fantabulous music, great dances, cool tie-dye motifs, the "great American dream". Unfortunately, you must also continue the mission of the sixties society and alert your audience to the horrors of the Vietnam war and the strangling grasp of "the establishment".
Task
Your task may be accomplished by a detailed digital presentation ( you can choose Genially, Canva ). You will need to have at least a ten minute presentation (around 20 slides). Please include lots of color and music. You should present comments/ pictures/ songs that address the politics of the 1960s, as well as the music, the clothing, the transportation trends, and the lifestyle changes. Don't forget to add notes to your powerpoint, so that I can follow your train of thought. Have fun and be creative!!
Process
While preparing for your presentation to the students at New Wave High, you should consider their complete lack of knowledge regarding pre 21st century life. Some of the things that were new to you in the sixties may be "ancient history" to this group. Therefore, you will have to be specific about how things affected/ changed your lifestyle. Topics you need to cover (but are not limited to) include:
-
some popular forms of entertainment (for example, radio shows, television, books, movies, actors, musicians, etc.)
-
changes made in art and entertainment
-
historical, political, military and social events
-
important leaders
-
major fashion trends
-
leisure time activities
-
sports world
Once completed, please post your digital presentaton in the Wakelet createdfor all your classmates' to review. Then check out all the other PowerPoints, making helpful and constructive observations. For example, "the information about Elvis Presley was news to me" is much better than "that's good". You will be graded on your observations regarding classmates PowerPoints as well as your own work, so put some effort into this project!!
