                    What are the characteristics of Silicon?

Silicon is a hard Brittle crystalline solid with a blue- gray metalic luster it is tetravalent, metalloid, and semiconductor. 

It is in Group 14 ( it has Carbon above it, and germanium)

             what is the name and how did it get it's name?

     The name of this element is silicon. The way it got it's name is because it is the 2nd most abundunt element in earths crust.  It is also one of the most common elements.  Silicon has metalloid in it.

    Antoine Lavoisier Discovered it in 1787. Antoine was born on August 26,  1743. He was born in France and went to school and studied science.
