Introduction

Today we are going to learn about the silent "e"!  Sometimes the silent "e" is also called the bossy "e" or magic "e".  Which ever way you hear it or call it, it does the same job!

Explore how the the letter "e" at the end of words can change a short vowel sound into a long vowel sound in most words!

This web quest is designed for kindergarten, first grade and second grade students to learn and practice the silent "e".  This WebQuest can be used whole group or individually.

Curriculum area: ELA

Grade Levels: K-2

Purpose of Assignment/Objectives:  This WebQuest was designed to give students another opportunity to learn and practice the concept of the silent "e".

Estimated time to complete: 15-20 minutes

What technology was used: Any device that allows the student to have access to the internet and have the ability to be actively engaged with a touch screen or mouse.  Examples could be iPad, tablet, Chromebook or desktop computer.

Materials: any chosen device such as an iPad, tablet, Chromebook or desktop computer

Procedures: Students will understand how to use the device their using responsibly in the classroom if completing individually.  If completing whole group, students will follow same classroom rules and expectations set by their classroom teacher.

Assessment tools: The classroom teacher can use the rubric to take a formative assessment on students.  A suggestion would be to individually see if students can use this new reading strategy when given a CVCE word.
