Shantae's Webquest

Introduction

Hello, fantastic students! Today, you're about to embark on an exciting journey into the realm of language and grammar. Get ready to take center stage in our webquest on the topic of identifying verbs. Your role in this quest is crucial, and by the end of it, you'll be wielding the sword of grammar with precision and expertise. As intrepid explorers of the English language, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to navigate through the vast expanse of online resources we've curated for you. Your task is to uncover the secrets of identifying verbs, those dynamic words that bring sentences to life. First things first, arm yourselves with curiosity and an eagle eye for detail. As you traverse the web, be on the lookout for examples of action verbs, those powerhouses that express movement and activity. Pay close attention to how they propel a sentence forward, giving it energy and momentum.

Task

By the end of the identifying verbs unit and podcast experience, learners should feel confident in recognizing and understanding the role of verbs, demonstrating their ability to apply this knowledge in both individual and collaborative settings. The ultimate goal is to equip students with the linguistic tools necessary for effective communication and a deeper appreciation for the intricacies of language. Students will be required to listen a podcast, watch a youtube video on identifying verbs How to Identify the Verb in a Sentence | Grammar Lessons - YouTube, identify verbs in a paragraph and also play a quiz on the topic verb https://quizizz.com/admin/quiz/656b8e3bf203970f367256b4?source=quiz_share.

Process

Phase 1: You will view a youtube video and take notes about the information present. Students will also be placed in the groups and listen to a podcast. In groups of 4 students will be asked to derive their own definition and steps in identifying verbs. The podcast will provide students with the necessary information they need to do the task.

Phase 2: After discussing their different answers and sharing their opinions, the teacher will then clear up any misconceptions relating to the topic and students will now have a clear understanding of it. They will then play the quiz on the topic.

Phase 3: The students will then individually write a paragraph about their school environment including five (5) to ten (10) verbs.
