Introduction
We are going scuba diving in the big ocean! We know that there are many different animals that live in the water. You and a partner are going to be scuba divers and find two animals that live in the ocean! You will become "ocean experts" on your animals and share your animals with the class.
Task
You and your partner will choose two ocean animals. Before you can share your animals with the class, you need to become experts on the animals by doing research and creating a picture of the animal for our class book called, "Ocean Animals". We will be working on this project during small group time throughout our ocean study.

Process

1. As a large group we will go to the library and have the librarian help us find books about ocean animals.
2. You and your partner will pick two ocean animals to become experts on.
3. During small group time your teacher will assist you in researching your two animals. You can use books and the internet to help with your research. You must find the following information about your animals to share with your classmates:
- The name of your animal.
- What does your animal eat?
- How big is your animal?
- Where in the ocean does your animal live?
Here are some possible websites that you can use to help you find facts about your animal. I will help you nagative through them in small groups.
4. After your research is done, you and your partner will create a picture of your animals for your class book called, "Ocean Animals". You can use crayons, markers, paint, chalk, or any art supplies to help with your picture.
5. Once everyone has completed their research, we will have a presentation time during large group. Each team of students will share their research and their picuter of the two animals.

I will be observing you to see how well you work with your partner. You must share ideas and share materials. I will be talking pictures of you and your partner's pictures for your special books!
