Task
Browse the different websites to learn about the human body and its systems. Identify key words, processes and the objectives of each body system. Dig deeper in order to see how these systems work in different situations. Watch the videos in the readings and answer the quizes to know how much you have learned. At the end of the unit you can play a game, take a quizizz activity and solve an esheet questions regarding the unit. Pretend to be a "doctor", watch the graphics suggested and base on them, make suggestons or advices to your patients to have a better health.
Process
- Language goal:
I can identify and describe the major body systems using specific content vocabulary.

Have in mind these questions while you explore the sites.
How much do you know about your body functions and organs?
Which are the major systems of the human body?
Why are their functions necessary for life?
Are there any other systems?
What did I learned from this unit?
You are going to start your own research in order to answer these and many other questions. You are a "Scientist Student". Let's start!
Follow the links and have fun while learning!

After you develop all these process steps, show what you learn under Evaluation page
There are other systems which you will learn in another Webquest.
Evaluation
What did your learn about your body?
Show how much do you know by doing the next activities.
1. Follow the procedures described in the esheet "All systems go". Complete the game activity and answer the questions suggested on a sheet of paper. Your answers should be complete sentences. Write from 3 to 5 sentences using your own words including specific language content words.

2. Answer the quiz in quizzis to ponder your knowledge.

3. Pretend you are a "doctor" and you need to give advices to your patients about how to take care of their bodies.
Look at the pictures in the links and tell what happens to our bodies when we have lack of sleep and consume a lot of sugar.

Teacher Page
- Language goal:
I can identify and describe the major body systems using specific content vocabulary.
- Theme:
How my body works.
- Student information:
5th grade students, 10-11 years old.
This students are in at stage IV, Intermediate Fluency "Good comprehension". They have been living in the country between 3 to 5 years. They have developed a vocabulary for about 6000 active words, use more complex sentences when speaking and writing, ask questions to clarify what they are learning in class, use native language strategies to learn content in English.
- Roles of the teacher:
Provide visually rich content instruction by means of a webquest guided search.
Have students take on larger roles in cooperative group activities.
In this webquest 5th grade students will learn about the human body systems and how they work. The Circulatory, Respiratory, Squeletal, Urinary, Nervous, Muscular and Immune systems are included. Students will find additional information and interesting facts about each of the systems. They will explore different educational websites that include short quizzes about the readings, videos and games. Students can develop a quizizz and a esheet at the end of the unit.
Differentiation
Provide extra time or modify assignments according to students performance.
For less proficient students, provide word walls, or card words to write vocabulary.
Provide dictionaries and extra support when browsing the site.
