Saving water

Introduction

Water is one of the most important things on Earth. All living things people, animals, and plants need water to live. We use water every day for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and growing food. But sometimes, people waste water by leaving taps open or using more than they need. If we keep wasting water, one day there might not be enough for everyone. That’s why we must learn to save water and use it wisely. Saving water helps our planet and makes sure there will be enough for the future.

Task

1. Drawing Task:

Draw a picture showing ways people can save water at home or at school (for example, turning off the tap, collecting rainwater, or watering plants with a bucket).

2. Matching Task:

Match the pictures to the correct actions:

Tap turned off → Saving water

Long shower → Wasting water

 Collecting rainwater → Saving water

3. Writing Task:

Write 3 sentences about how you can save water every day.

Example:

I turn off the tap when I brush my teeth.

I don’t play with water.

I use a cup when rinsing my mouth.

4. Group Task:

Work in a group and discuss why saving water is important. Then share your ideas with the class.

5. Practical Task:

Check around the school for any leaking taps or dripping pipes and report them to the teacher

Process

1. Close the tap properly after using water so it doesn’t drip or leak.

2. Use a bucket instead of a hose when washing cars or watering plants.

3. Collect rainwater in containers to use for cleaning or watering gardens.

4 .Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth or washing your hands.

5 .Reuse water when possible — for example, water from washing fruits can be used for plants.

6. Check for leaks at home or school and tell an adult to fix them.

7. Teach others about the importance of saving water.

Evaluation

1.Oral Questions

What do we use water for?

Why should we save water?

Mention two ways we can save water.

2. Written Activity

Tick (✔️) the actions that save water and cross (❌) the ones that waste water:

_____ Turning off the tap while brushing teeth

_____ Playing with water

_____ Collecting rainwater

_____ Leaving the tap running

_____ Using a bucket to water plants

3. Drawing Task

Draw one picture showing how you can save water at home or at school.

4. Teacher Observation

The teacher observes if learners:

Understand the importance of saving water

Can mention and demonstrate ways to save water

Participate actively in discussions and activities

Conclusion

Water is very important for all living things. Without water, people, animals, and plants cannot survive. That is why we must always use water wisely and never waste it. By turning off taps, fixing leaks, and reusing water when possible, we can help save water for everyone. When we save water, we help our homes, our community, and our planet stay healthy and clean.
