Help the zookeepers! They have lost all the information about the animals at the zoo. They need your help by creating new introduction cards for the zoo animals for the visitors to read. To help the zookeepers, you need to know the names of the animals, their habitat (where they live), and a cool fun fact!

Your job is to figure what are the names of the animals, their habitat, and a cool fun fact! Help the zookeepers to identify the animals before the visitors come back!

You will search to find facts about:

1. What are the names of the animals?

2. What animals live on land?

3. What animals live in the water?

Process

Here are the steps you should follow to help the zookeeper identify the animals:

Day 1: Introduction to Animals Names

1.     Grab a notebook!

2.     Get some headphones and plug them into the computer.

4.     Listen to the video to hear the names of the animals.

Day 2: Review Animal Names

1.     Grab a notebook!

2.     Get some headphones and plug them into the computer.

4.     Try to remember 3 animals you seen in the video. 

5.     After watching the video, go to ABC & 123 Magnets by clicking the link below and spell the name of 3 animals you seen in the video  http://www.abcya.com/alphabet_number_magnets.htm

6.    Write these animals down in your notebook!

 

Day 3: Animal Habitats

1.     Grab a notebook!

2.     Get some headphones and plug them into the computer.

3.     Print the Animal Habitat Worksheet by clicking on the document titled Day 3 at the bottom of the page.

5.     Complete the worksheet.

 

Day 4: Brainstorm for Introduction Card

1.     Grab a notebook!

2.     Get some headphones and plug them into the computer.

3.     Print off the brainstorm paper by clicking on the document titled Day 4 at the bottom of the page.

5.     Now complete the brainstorm worksheet with 1 animal that lives on land and 1 animal that lives in the water. Make sure to include one word about where they live and 1 other fact about the animal. 

 

Day 5: Draft Introduction Card

1.     Grab a notebook!

2.     Get some headphones and plug them into the computer.

4.     Pay attention to the structure of the stories, so that you know how to draft your story.

5.     After watching the video, get two sheets of blank white paper and begin working on your draft.

6.     Remember you must do this for 1 animal that lives on land and 1 animal that lives in the water.

7.     Turn in your writing draft when you are done.

 

Day 6: Revise and Edit Introduction Card

1.     Revise your introduction card by making sure you have the following in your draft:

                   i.     1 animal that lives on land telling me the name, where they live, and 1 other fact with a picture of the animal

                  ii.     1 animal that lives in water telling me the name, where they live, and 1 other fact with a picture of the animal

2.     Edit your introduction card by making sure you have the following in your draft:

                 iii.     Capital letters

                 iv.     Ending marks

                  v.    Spaces in between words

 

Day 7: Publish Introduction Card

1.     Login into the computer.

2.     Type your introduction cards using Microsoft Word.

3.     Print each animal on a separate page.

4.     Once you have typed both introduction cards, draw your picture and turn it in.

Your grade for this WebQuest will be made up of two parts:

  • One part will be your participation and completion of the tasks listed for all seven days.
  • For the second part, you will be graded on the writing process you completed to create two introduction cards that includes an introduction to one animal that lives on land and one animal that lives in water. I will grade the following stages of writing: brainstorming, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing.
