Introduction

Everyone feels down once in a while, but for some it's constantly haunting them all the time. When that sadness starts to negatively interfere with daily fuctions in your life, it's defined as Depression. Anyone can be affected by it which is why it is important to know how to identify the symptoms, causes, treatments, and how to help someone suffering from depression. 

Task

Navigate the websites provided and collaborate with your group to create a power point that raises awareness for teen depression. You will be presenting it at an assembly to inform your fellow classmates on the seriousness of depression.

Process

Each group member will become an "expert" on the topic they choose to research.

Power Point requirements:

  1. Include definition and significance
  2. List the causes and symptoms
  3. List 5 different forms of depression
  4. Explain what its like living with depression
  5. List 5 effective treatments and explain why they are effective
  6. Explain who is at risk and state statistics
  7. Create a program to help depressed teens and it's purpose
  8. Include hotlines and support services for those effected

Conclusion

You have gained knowledge and become an expert on depression through your research and creation of your power point. You learned who can be affected, what its like for them to live, how to look for warning signs and what causes it, and treatments for people battling with depression. By actively spreading awareness through your presentation, you opened the eyes of your classmates and may have saved a life. You're a hero and should be proud of your work to encourage those affected to get help!
