Samantha Salgado-3 Branches of Government Assignment

Introduction

The 3 Branches of Government, what are the 3 branches? We have the Legislative, the Executive, and the Judicial branches. All are very important to keep our government working as smooth as possible. They all have different roles and help with different things they work on. A quick summary of each so you have an idea of what they do, but you will still have to do your own research and learn more about each one. The Legislative Branch, also known as congress, is responsible for making laws, they have the power to introduce and pass bills after they are signed by the president. It is composed by 2 chambers. Executive Branch is responsible for enforcing the laws that are passed by congress, this group is composed by the president, vice president, and agencies that make up the federal government. Lastly is the Judicial Branch, they are responsible for interpreting laws and making sure they are being applied fairly and consistently by the supreme court and lower federal courts. Now that you have a better understanding on each branch let's talk about what you exactly you will be doing for this assignment.

Task

For this assignment, students (in groups of 3) will be asked to learn about the 3 Branches of Government and make a project. They will be given the option to make a PowerPoint or poster and present it to the class. If you choose to do a slideshow you should have a minimum of 4 slides per branch of government, but no more than 6. Make sure you are working together and communicating properly so that the day of your presentation your group isn't lost. ONE student should email me the presentation in pdf format (ideally). As long as I can access it the day of so I can pull your slide up on the projection screen.

Process

Students are required to complete an even amount of work. I highly recommend each person picking one branch and learning about it, then filling each other in on all the new information they learned. HOWEVER, I want all students to watch this video https://youtu.be/DuWRrTVGnRA?si=t1G90Ifx9xmG9e9G to really understand the concept. Siting your sources, you should EACH use no less than 4 sources. It can be from a textbook, video, article, etc. As long as you correctly cite you are free to use any sources as long as it doesn't come from ChatGPT or any other Ai websites. I don't want one student doing all the work it is very important to evenly distribute the work, as well as making sure you work together. You must have a title slide, 4-6 slides of each branch, make sure to include lots of images (don't make the slides look boring, make them look appealing and fun to look at), transitions throughout each slide, COLOR (don't make everything look plain, I will be grading for creativity). Works cited page, use bullet points when writing on your slides not too many words or paragraphs I don't want you reading off the slides as that can cause your back to be facing the audience. You will each be allowed a small notecard, should not have a lot of writing on it you should be well informed about your topic and not need to do much reading. As well as you should be presenting for a minimum of 4 minutes but no more than 8.

Evaluation
Conclusion

Overall, have fun with it! Get together after school, make group chats, etc. This is something that should be fun and as stress free as possible while also learning. As long as everyone is doing their part, everything should run smoothly.
