Rules for a healthy life

Introduction

Pre-reading stage

Hello everyone! My name is Rocky, and I am your personal medical friend. I have just learned that some of your habits are not that healthy. For example, you eat a lot of junk food, you don't exercise physically, you are very stressed, you ask your mother to buy you different sweets and you don't go to the dentist frequently. Am I right? For that reason, I am here to help you improve your health habits and give you lots of tips. But, before moving on, I want to visit the following link: https://app.fluentize.com/lesson/healthy-lifestyle and watch the video. Then, I want to think and discuss whether you follow all these rules in your life.

Task

In this WebQuest, you are going to find out about different ways on how to improve our lives, become healthy, and adopt a healthy lifestyle. First, you have to visit and read cautiously the reading texts that are provided. Then, you have to provide answers to the worksheets as well as to the questions that accompany these texts. After that, you will have to create a presentation using a PowerPoint  and present your final product to the rest of your classmates.  You have to work as a team. For that reason, two of you will have the role of the presenters, who will present the final product. The third child will have the role of the reporter, who is going to write the answers on the worksheets. It is up to you, to choose which role you may follow!

In your presentation, you have to present briefly what children should do to improve their lives and adopt healthier habits and lifestyles, in general. You have to read aloud your short presentation.

Lastly, at the last stage, you have to provide a short text of about seven lines. In this text, you have to write which of these rules/habits you learned from today's session follow in your daily life.

Process

While-reading stage

Assign roles

Two children will be the presenters and the other, the reporter. Choose what you like the most!

Find information about a healthy life

You have to read four different reading texts. Through them, you will be informed about how we can improve our daily lifestyle, follow and adopt a healthier life.

Answer the worksheets provided

Each one of you has to read and answer the worksheets carefully. Only one child has to write the answers down. Be sure that each one of you will work on this task.

Answer the four comprehension questions

All of you, have to answer in your notebooks the four questions that are provided below.

Make the presentation

Now, after reading the texts, completing the worksheets and answering the questions, you have to create a short presentation of the most remarkable things you have learned.

More specifically, you have to create a short PowerPoint presentation and present it to your teacher. You could use pictures and colors, so as to make it more interesting!

Do not forget to write the sources that you used, at the end of the PowerPoint Presentation.

Practice the presentation

It is very important to practice your presentation many times, before presenting it to your teacher. In that way, you can make fewer errors.

Presentation time

Now, it's time to present what you have done and practice your fluency skills. Do not forget to feel relaxed and unstressful! This will make your presentation an excellent piece of work.

Teamwork and cooperation

All group members participate equally. They have read the four reading texts (hypertexts) carefully and till the end.

Not all students have contributed equally to the reading lesson. That means, that some of them do not read the required texts carefully and till the end as well as do not answer the worksheets provided.

The whole work has been done only by one student. This is evident due to the lack of knowledge of the rest of the students, in the four comprehension questions.
