Today we are going to be focusing on a very influential woman, Rosa Parks. Throughout this WebQuest you will:
- Learn about Rosa Parks early life
- Analyze a short text that will go in-depth about her accomplishments
- Take an inside look at the 1950s, segregation laws, and why Rosa Parks was significant
Task
For this WebQuest, there are two websites that you will need to access:
- For the first website, click here. This one will provide necessary information about Rosa Parks early life and how she grew up.
- The second website is available here. This is a short read, written by Christina Keil in 2010 about Rosa Parks.
The purpose of this activity is to analyze the life of Rosa Parks from beginning to end using two factual sources.
Students: Be sure to thoroughly read and analyze both sources provided. It will be necessary to understand them prior to completing the next few tasks.

2. Analysis (3-5 sentences)
- Describe the Jim Crow Laws in your own words.
- How did Christina Keil write about Rosa Parks? Do you feel as if she was biased or just being factual?
2. Personal Reflection (2 paragraphs)
- In your own words, describe why Rosa Parks was significant. Be sure to include the time period she grew up in and the difference she made. Would you say that Rosa Parks was an important person in the 1950s?
