Introduction

 

Hi  there all you great geologists. We are on a quest to see what kind of rocks are in our earth. So get your backpack and digging tools and hope along as we search to find what lies beneath the dirt.

To start off, Rocks are mixtures of different minerals. They are a lot of rocks in the earth.

Your task is to go through the series of websites I have provided for you. There are various activities and questions to learn about the different types of rocks. You will follow these intructions as you move to each website.

Process

First, Let's learn some information about the different types of rocks .

Read the article about how rocks are classified and the different types of rocks. 

List the ways rocks are classified in your journal.

 

Next,  Find one fact about each type of rock and write it in your geologist journal.

Conclusion

Wow you all are great geologists. You have learned about the three types of rocks: igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary.  You know how these rocks are formed and you also know the examples so when you go outside , you can share with your family what type of rock that is.

This is a 3rd grade Ga Standard.

This WebQuest requires critical thinking and being able to use computer skills in order to find there way through it. Teachers should be there to help guide the students. Students need to be able to collaborate during this in order to fully gain understanding of  the topic. Some words may need to be explained by the teacher as the vocabulary will more than likely be new to these students.
