Road to American Revolution

Introduction

We will be looking at the events leading up to the American Revolution! 

Task

Students will research the different events that led up to the American Revolution.  Students will create a timeline along with a poster or digital presentation showing how the events led to the American Revolution.

Process

You will first need to complete research on the following events that led to the American Revolution.  Create a timeline and add events to your timeline as you are researching.  Take notes on each event. 

You will need to write a brief summary for each event:

What happened?  When did the event take place?  Who was there?  Why is the event important?

First, you will research all events and create your timeline. Next, answer the below critical thinking questions.  You will need to share your information with me.  You have choices on how to share.  You can create a digital presentation online or create a poster board.  

  1. Critical Thinking Question: Do you think there was one event that was most important in leading to the war?  Why or why not?
  2. Critical Thinking Question: Do you think the war could have been avoided?  Why or why not?
  3. Critical Thinking Question: What alternative option would you suggest instead of going to war?
  4. Critical Thinking Question: How would you explain each side's viewpoint?  
  5. Critical Thinking Question: What event did you find most interesting to read about?  Why?
Evaluation

You need to have the following:

  1. Timeline including all events.
  2. Each event with brief summary - What happened? When did the event take place? Who was there? Why is the event important?
  3. Create a digital presentation or poster board showing all of the above information.  Use images and pictures along with design to make it interesting.
