Introduction
What are the three types rhetorical analysis appeals? Why are they so important today? What are some examples of each type?
Students will use their ability to recall, as well as apply and create to answer these questions.
Task
Students will be asked to get into groups of three to create a presentation using Canva on the three types of rhetorical analysis. The presentation should have:
- A title slide, with the names of the students in the group.
- At least 8-10 slides detailing each type of rhetorical analysis, an example of the rhetorical analysis, and why it is important in grabbing the attention of the reader.
- A conclusion summarizing the contents of the presentation.
Process
Before starting the presentation, students will be asked keep a shared word document with these roles and any other information needed. This should be linked to the end of your presentation.
- Open https://www.canva.com/canva-ai/ and scroll to the bottom where it shows payment plans. Select the option that is $0.
- Create or log into your canva account.
- Select the "presentation" Icon on the front page.
- In the top right hand corner, select "share" followed by the box that says "access level."
- Allow anyone with the link to access and edit the project.
- Paste the link in your word document with the list of roles.
- Begin creating your project.
Evaluation
Students will be graded based on their ability to describe rhetorical analysis and on their ability to properly create a project detailing each appeal.
- 5 points: Students correctly created a presentation with at least 8 slides.
- 5 points: Students provided a link to their shared word document listing the roles of each students, and the shared link to their project.
- 10 points: Students created a presentation that is neat, informative, and has proper grammar.
- 20 points: Students were able to properly list the three types of rhetorical analysis appeals, and provided a proper example of each appeal.
Conclusion
In conclusion, students will be able to properly list and describe the three types of rhetorical appeals, while being able to properly communicate with their team to make a neat, understandable, and informative presentation.
