Introduction

Social media is part of everyday life. Students use platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok for communication, entertainment, and learning. However, improper use of social media may lead to cyberbullying, fake news, and privacy issues.

In this WebQuest, learners will explore how to become responsible and ethical digital citizens by understanding the proper use of social media.

Task

Students will work in groups and create a Digital Citizenship Poster or Presentation that shows:

  • Proper use of social media

  • Ways to avoid fake news

  • Online safety tips

  • Prevention of cyberbullying

  • Responsible digital behavior

At the end of the activity, each group will present their output to the class.

Process

Step 1 – Form a Group

Create groups with 4–5 members.

Step 2 – Research Online

Search and read information from the provided websites about digital citizenship and responsible social media use.

Step 3 – Discuss as a Group

Answer the following guide questions:

  1. What are the benefits of social media?

  2. What are the dangers of irresponsible online behavior?

  3. How can students stay safe online?

  4. Why is digital citizenship important?

Step 4 – Create Your Output

Using PowerPoint, Canva, or cartolina, create a poster or presentation about responsible social media use.

Each group will explain their output in front of the class for 5–10 minutes.
