Introduction

Technology is now part of our daily life. We use the internet for studying, communication, entertainment, and social media. However, using technology also comes with responsibilities. In this WebQuest activity, students will explore how to become responsible digital citizens by practicing online safety, respect, and proper behavior on the internet.

Task

Students will work individually or in groups to:

1. Research the meaning of digital citizenship.

2. Identify safe and unsafe online behaviors.

3. Create a poster, infographic, or short presentation about responsible internet use.

4. Share tips on how students can stay safe online.

At the end of the activity, students should be able to explain the importance of being responsible and respectful internet users.

Step 1: Explore the Topic

Research the following questions:

• What is digital citizenship?

• Why is online safety important?

• What are examples of good online behavior?

• What are common online dangers?

Suggested topics to explore:

• Online privacy

• Respectful communication

Step 2: Gather Information

Find information from trusted websites, articles, or videos. Take notes about:

• Important rules for internet safety

• Ways to protect personal information

• Proper online manners or “netiquette”

Step 3: Create Your Output

Create ONE of the following:

• Poster

• Infographic

• PowerPoint presentation

• Short video

• Digital brochure

Your output must include:

• Definition of digital citizenship

• At least 5 online safety tips

• Examples of responsible online behavior
