Research Vacation

Introduction

Its Vacation Time!!

Pack your bags and get ready to go, because you are going on a trip!

Go Go Go Travel Agency has chosen our class to be their special vacation researchers.  They are starting a brand-new website and want firsthand research on their top 6 destinations in the United States.

They want people to use their company when they travel and think that a great website with all the important information about each city will make them the most popular travel agency in the city.

Our class has been chosen to go to each city and collect all the important information to put on the website.

Are you up to the task?

Task

Oh No!

The brand-new website crashed!  All the information was lost!

The Go Go Go Travel Agency don't know which city they are sending each of your teams!

All they have is the Latitude and Longitude for the city in which each of you will travel. Each city has 3 students assigned to research that specific city.

Your Task:

With your fellow travelers, each of you will answer one of the following prompts:

1. When was the city founded and by whom? What is its population?  What time zone is it in?

2. Name and describe 3 of the most famous landmarks in the city.

3. What are 3 things that the city is known for? (ex. exports, geography)

Find classmates with the same coordinates and get with your team.  The Agency is counting on you!

City 1: Latitude - 41.5100N Longitude - 87.3900W

City 2: Latitude - 40.71427N Longitude - 74.00597W

City 3: Latitude - 25.4627N Longitude - 80.11.37W

City 4: Latitude - 34.0308N Longitude - 118.1437W

City 5: Latitude - 47.3622N Longitude - 122.1955

City 6: Latitude - 38.5342N Longitude - 77.0210W

Process

Step 1: Use coordinates to find your city. Google Earth

Step 2: Decide which number each travel companion will answer.

Step 3: Research your assigned task using: Pebble Go, Kiddle, or the links below. (Make sure to take notes and collect pictures, you are going to need them for later)

Step 4: Come back together with your team to teach each other about what you learned.

Step 5: Now that you have done all the research, Go Go Go Travel Agency is asking for you to make a presentation out of your findings for the website.  Because they are so nice at Go Go Go, they are giving you options:

Video - make a short video telling and showing all about your city. (No more than 10 minutes)

PowerPoint Presentation/Google Slides- make a to show and tell about your city. (at least 10 slides)

*Remember, this is for a website that is supposed to WOW its visitors. *

Your presentation should:

Answer all the questions about the city.

SHOW about the city (pictures, videos)

Be high quality and have sound.
